Tackling Dental Anxiety
The Dr. Bikoi Foundation understands that dental anxiety is a significant obstacle preventing many individuals from seeking necessary dental care. To address this challenge, the foundation has developed a program, in collaboration with our clinic partner AFDSS, that focuses on creating a welcoming and calming environment for patients. As part of the psychosocial care pillar of the Bikoi model, the foundation incorporates various techniques to help patients relax and feel more comfortable during their dental visits.
These include relaxation exercises, such as deep breathing, which help to reduce stress and promote a sense of calm. Additionally, the foundation offers music therapy, allowing patients to listen to soothing melodies during their treatments, helping to distract them from any discomfort and create a more positive experience.
Aromatherapy is also utilized, with pleasant scents being diffused throughout the dental office to promote relaxation and reduce fear. By addressing dental anxiety through these innovative approaches, the Dr. Bikoi Foundation aims to break down barriers to dental care and encourage more individuals to seek the treatment they need. This 360 and holistic approach to dental care, which encompasses both physical and psychological well-being, is a central component of the Bikoi model.
